Pretoria Technical College Principal Webster Kamutapuro has painted a positive outlook concerning the 2022 academic year despite some COVID -19 regulations adherence still in play, as their operation for the year has been tuned compliance.
Kamutapuro said the past two years were difficult for them from an operational point of view but reiterated that 2022 was a year pregnant with possibilities.
“In 2020 we only operated for 5 months, and that had a huge impact on the institution. Also last year we had to conduct online classes compared to the day to day interactive personalised classes, that are beneficial to a student learning due to the regulations put in place by the Department of Higher Education and Department of Health,” said Kamutapuro.
Kamutapuro further said “This year all of staff members are fully vaccinated as well as the majority of students have been jabbed. That has thus far led to a zero percent case of infections; this gives us a positive outlook for the year. Remember students were scared to register due to the instabitity od the pandemic but now that fear has died down.”
“What has been abnormal way of conducting business has returned back to its normality. We are seeing a positive trajectory pertaining to our intake numbers. We see our institution as a family working to rise above COVID-19 and its challenges with whoever we are in partnership with,” said Kamutapuro.
We are hoping with the relaxation of the regulation we can also offer our students extra mural activities that will go hand in hand with their academic pursuit
