Retswakae foundation held a custom day celebration and recognises the cultural wealth of communities.
The event was in honour as South Africans celebrate the day by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population communities.
Celebrated with traditional attires, the event was held at a sports ground in Soshanguve an important role in promoting cultural diversity, social cohesion, and reconciliation.
Founded in 2019 Retswakae is a Soshanguve based organisation that aims to build a social security network for the elderly.
The foundation partnered with the City of Tshwane, COSUP, Royal funerals, and Zakheni to impart valuable information to the people.
Kennedy Mayeso Founder of Retswakae foundation said that the sole purpose of the event was not just to celebrate the cultural day but to create a platform for different organisation to impart information and allow the people access to the information
“We didn’t want to be the only organisation to address the people, we wanted them to have the information within reach.”
Mayeso has grieved disappointment at the event as it did not leads to expectations, The turnout was not exactly how he had wished “We faced challenges with sponsors pulling out last minute, we struggled as we aren’t funded by the government”, he is however, grateful to the sponsors that made good on their promises.
