A group of local non-profits has stepped forward to assist the community with typing CVs and updating them. They are Thusangwanageno, Neighbourhood Watch, NWPU, NPC, and Reflex Praise. This programme was held at Soshanguve Block L to help the community prepare for the 8000 jobs issued by Premier Lesufi Panyaza and other opportunities that may arise in the future.
Neighbourhood Watch Secretary General Goodwin Mabusela says their programme assists community members with creating, updating and scanning documents for their CVs. “ Our community is largely unemployed and it is difficult for the unemployed to find money and travel to internet cafes to update their CVs.
As a result, we also saw that celebrating youth day differently would be more effective. Rather than wearing uniforms, we’re applying for jobs this year,” said Goodwin Mabusela.
Their initial intention was to help Soshanguve residents, but after receiving calls from those in Pretoria North and Hammanskraal, they decided to assist them as well.
He said that their target number was to capture 80% of unemployed people but so far they have helped over 300 people.
The programme did not reach a large number of people on its first day. It wasn’t until the second day that almost everyone noticed what Thusangwanageno was doing. The programme was well received by community members.
I think this is what we need. This programme is likely to help a lot of us find jobs since we are mostly unemployed.
I got help with my CV and they even scanned it for me. ‘I wish they would do this forever as it has been really helpful to us,’ said Lebogang Manamela, one of those who got assistance from Thusangwanageno.
Mabusela said he would appreciate government support for equipment, data, and electricity. Lastly, he said that they were happy to know that their programme would not only be beneficial to their communities, but also to others.
