The community of Mabopane Block C has been suffering from a water shortage for two weeks, and it is believed that this was caused by vandalism of the water structure in the area. This has been an issue for the community because they basically need water to survive.
Ward Councillor Neo Mocumi has confirmed, that the lack of water is caused by a pipe burst and that the municipality is aware of the problem, and their staff is currently working on-site to fix the problem.
“We don’t know, but most of the pipes are old, if you go to block D you will see that pipes have busted in most of the streets.” She also added that she was informed about the water issue seven days after it started, hence it was not attended to earlier.
While talking to Tshwane Bulletin Mocumi said that as the municipality they provided the community with water tanks for them to use meanwhile the damage is being fixed, and that action was unfortunately met by refusal by some of the community members.
Mocumi’s staff is expected to be done fixing the pipe burst this week, and water will be restored.
