Care Worker Johannah Wati Shares Insights and Hopes for Growth at Disability Centre.
Johannah Wati, a care worker, mentioned that she has learned a lot since she joined the Lesedi Self-help Association for Persons with Disabilities. Initially, she struggled to deal with children who had different disabilities, but she quickly adjusted to the situation.
The organisation is a residential centre for people with disabilities in New Eersterus, Hammanskraal. They provide care, support, and necessary services for them.
“I would like to see this center grow and attract sponsors who can help us where we are lacking. I also want to advise those who have disabled children not to give up on them and to feel welcome to bring their kids to the center,” Johannah added.
The Centre Manager, Matilda Mamarooi Phala, stated that she started this organisation on the 6th of March, 2000. She had only 4 children they took care of, and now they have over 20 disabled children at the centre.
