Popular lollipop brand Pin Pop hosted a dance challenge at the KT Motubatse Library Hall in Soshanguve Extension 14, alongside Robot Boii, a famous dancer known for his unique moves. The purpose of this event was to find a dancer who would stand a chance to win a year-long influencer deal with Pin Pop.
The competition has been held in two other places besides this one, including Soweto and Tembisa, with Soshanguve being the latest stop as they continue their search for three individuals/influencers to work with Robot Boii.
“Event organiser and Pin Pop representative Neo Moselekwa said that the main purpose of this event is to find three influencers who will work with Robot Boii and be part of the Pin Pop team. ‘It is very important for us to explore the talents in the townships,’ he added.”
Moselekwa added that the competition is also running on TikTok, where participants can post videos for the public to judge and like, identifying the best dancers.
“It is important that our children participate and get equal chances. It’s very important for them to explore their talents and see how good they are,” she said.
Khanya Nyanda, brand manager for Pin Pop from Aldor Africa, said, “The event is an extension of the campaign we’ve just launched in partnership with Robot Boii. It’s essentially about finding talent and searching for the coolest moves in South Africa.”
He further elaborated that they are going around the country, township to township, searching for raw talent from all locations. “Regardless of where you are, it’s about allowing everyone to become the star they want to be,” he added.
Moratiwa Mmakola, one of the young people who registered for this competition from Wonderpark and represented one of the well-known Barcadi group around Pretoria, Vibe with Dimphowadiwave, was among the top dancers. He gave his insights about meeting Robot Boii: “I’m expecting to learn new dance moves and pick up a thing or two which can help me shortly,” he concluded.
