Botshilu Private Hospital has relaunched its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) project, BotshiluCares, by supporting local non-governmental organisation (NGO) homes. In commemoration of the annual Nelson Mandela International Day, they visited and provided support to four local NGO facilities.
The hospital visited the following NGO homes: Leratong Old Age Centre in New Eersterus, Hammanskraal; Thabang Old Age Centre in Block S, Soshanguve; Xola Disability Centre in Block JJ, Soshanguve; and Tumelo Home and Hospice in Block B, Mabopane.
Hospital physicians and other stakeholders delivered essential supplies and donations to these facilities. Ampath Laboratory generously contributed vital items such as urns, a bar refrigerator for medication storage, and a kettle. Additional contributions were made by Cristal Cleaning and other partners.
Boitumelo Mphake, Stakeholder Relations and Marketing Director of Botshilu Private Hospital stated in a speech at Xola Disability Centre in Soshanguve Block JJ: “I am truly excited and pleased to see that, on our first visit here, we are accompanied by other stakeholders.
Rietgat SAPS consistently participates in most of our community initiatives, demonstrating our progressive growth. In February 2020, before the onset of COVID-19, we donated beds, identified several needs, and pledged to collaborate closely with you on this journey.”
Salome Njenga, founder of Xola Disability Centre in Soshanguve, one of the facilities visited by Botshilu Private Hospital, commented on her centre, this initiative, and their collaboration with the hospital: “Our disability center provides care for young people and adults with disabilities who are unable to care for themselves independently.
We provide bathing, cleaning, feeding, cooking, and laundry services, and ensure all their needs are met through our dedicated staff who are present 24 hours a day, every day. We are an independent, non-profit organization.”
She further stated: “We accept all individuals with disabilities. Many of our patients are referred by police officers, social workers, and family members. I would like to express my gratitude to Big Save store, Botshilu Private Hospital, and Rietgat SAPS.”
Njenga concluded by requesting assistance from other organisations, both governmental and private, to help with transportation to enable the patients to access hospital services or to receive necessary care at the centre.
