The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to a factory fire incident in Hennie Street in Rosslyn.
The factory fire was reported to the City of Tshwane Emergency Services Call Centre (ECC) at about 14:12. The ECC immediately dispatched a fire truck from Rosslyn Fire Station to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the foam mattresses outside the factory, two steel containers, and part of the building were on fire.
They immediately began with firefighting operations. The ECC had dispatched multiple additional firefighting resources from various stations including Mabopane, Wonderboom, Ga-Rankuwa and Jabulani (Soshanguve) Fire Stations to the scene as backup. These included four fire trucks, two water tankers, two foam tenders and a video unit.
“Firefighters stopped the fire from spreading further and saved the building and the two containers from being completely burned down,”
“The fire was extinguished at about 18:01. Several other buildings in the factory remained unaffected by the fire,” said The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Members of the public are urged to be cautious during winter to ensure the safety and well-being of people, animals and property by observing the following precautionary measures:
