Soshanguve’s Ward 34 Councillor Sisi Sithole has welcomed Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Sihle Zikalala on his visit to the under-construction Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court. Sithole was pleased with the Deputy Minister’s intervention on the R300 million project that has seen delays in the last three years.
With the lack of integration of local community leaders in the project, Sithole hopes for change following the deputy minister’s inspection.
“With the intervention of the minister, I am happy with it because we met before and discussed it. So, partially I am happy that he also touched on the matter that people are coming from foreign countries who are working on the site, taking community work. As a community leader, I had to fight for that so that my community can benefit from this project,” Sithole said.
Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala emphasised the importance of transparency and integration of local community leaders in the project, alluding to the councillor’s concerns on the matter. Demanding the completion of the project by the start of February 2025, Sithole is confident in Zikalala’s commitment to the project’s finalisation.
“I am confident in Deputy Minister Zikalala because he is on the ground, and it shows that something positive will happen. As you can see, he has been pushing since last week to today, where he is here for the inspection and telling stakeholders to work hand in hand with me.
Before, I was excluded from this project, but I am confident that with his intervention, something will happen,” Sithole said.
