The National Youth Development Agency has warned the public about fake social media post advertising Youth Empowerment Learnership positions. The post, which circulates on digital platforms, urges young people to apply for the programme.
“Over the last 24 hours, the agency has witnessed with great concern the circulation of a false recruitment notice claiming that it is offering 250 youth empowerment leadership positions,” said the National Youth Development Agency.
“The agency has engaged with the various authors on these social media platforms and requested that these notices be removed as they are untrue,”
In a Statement by National Youth Development Agency, they have confirmed that indeed the post is doing rounds and they are not offering any programmes as it is highlighted on the social media post
“The agency has engaged with its Risk unit to launch an investigation on the advertisers and the said recruiters,”
Young people are encouraged to only rely on communication provided by the agency through its various platforms enabling them to apply for opportunities on reputable sites such as the NYDA’s ERP as well as SAYouth.mobi
The National Youth Development Agency further said that such instances aim to exploit the vulnerability of young people seeking employment.
“The agency distances itself from these fraudulent schemes and urges young people to report any suspicious activities to our Anti-Fraud Line on 0800733477 or email: nyda@tip-offs.com,” stated the National Youth Development Agency.
