Tshwane MMC for Utility Services, Councillor Frans Boshielo, has issued an urgent warning to residents: upgrade electricity prepaid meter software before its expiration on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Residents have mere days remaining to upgrade their electricity prepaid meter software – known as Standard Transfer Specification (STS) or Key Revision Number (KRN) – before the current version expires at midnight on Sunday.
“Your meter software must be upgraded from STS1 to STS2 or KRN1 to KRN2 for the prepaid meter system to continue functioning beyond November 24, 2024,” Boshielo said.
The MMC emphasized that prepaid meters not upgraded by the deadline will reject all newly generated tokens.
“Even if you have connected illegally or breached your meter, you will not be able to get electricity past the deadline,” Boshielo warned.
