Ditsong Museums of South Africa celebrated cultural heritage by celebrating the diverse cultures of the rainbow nation.
Hundreds of people attended the Hike and Braai event that the museum hosted at the Tswaing Meteorite Crater in Soshanguve.
Attendees said that cultural identity relies on communities and individual memory, and it determines identity, well-being, decision-making, and actions.
“Our cultural heritage helps us better understand past generations and the history of our ancestors,” they said.
The preservation of cultural heritage as a whole can also lead to communal support. Those who identify strongly with a certain heritage are often more likely to help out others in that same community,” they added.
The event was held with some people choosing to dress up in traditional attire.
Understanding your history and heritage can help you better comprehend how you got to be who you are. In actuality, having a historical perspective on your ancestry can operate as a compass and frequently reveal information about what to anticipate in the future.
Not only was it about the day, but it also promoted a healthy lifestyle, while people participated in hiking to experience the Tswaing Meteorite Crater.
The South African Police in Rietgat and members of the public were among those who attended the event.
Trudy Mashishi Ka Baloyi said that she enjoyed and had a lot of fun with the 7.8 km walk, Although it was challenging, it was a great experience.
