The Savanna Comedy Bar brought together comedy enthusiasts and casual fans alike for a night of belly laughs at Cor’s Diner in Centurion, under the neon glow of tents and the buzz of anticipation. In the name of charity, the event promised an evening of mind-blowing comedy and nonstop entertainment.
Savanna Comedy Bar is a brand that promotes not only emerging comedians who aren’t too well-known but also neighbourhood hangouts, bars and eateries.
“Comedy Bar shines the light on South Africa’s unearthed talents in comedians and also shines the light on local bar spots together with eat-up places and restaurants in the name and conversion of Comedy Bar,” said Karabo Mashele, from Agency as a social media manager. This is one of the few brands that supports comedy in this sort of way here in South Africa.
She believes that Savanna Comedy Bar stands out from many events, “Savanna Comedy Bar is not only hosted in Johannesburg or at one particular place, but it does also move around each and every week with different shows, different lineups, different headliners from popular to unpopular and it caters to the needs of each region,” she added
The atmosphere inside the venue was electric with anticipation as guests began to pour in, a sign of an amazing evening to come. The roster featured a wide range of talent, everyone eager to make an impression on the enthusiastic audience, from seasoned stand-up legends to rising stars of the comedy circuit. Trevor Gumbi was one of the present popular Comedian at the Savanna Comedy Bar.
The platform for comedic genius was the stage, which was decorated with colourful lights and a basic microphone. The host Hannes Brummer, a charming comedian renowned for his sharp humour and contagious charm, ascended the stage to start the evening off with a boom. He set the tone for a memorable evening with his easy-going conversation and flawless timing.
The comedians gave a master class in comedic skill, covering everything from cutting satire to observational humour and leaving no subject untouched by their extremely sharp humour. The enthralled audience erupted in laughter and echoing applause as social insight was expertly blended with hilarity.
“My set was cool , I had some ups and downs, and some jokes really went well and some didn’t, but I had a good time. The audience was cool, nice, and friendly, it’s cool when you come to places like this, they don’t have a lot of comedy and you give them some love they show you some love back,” said Gavin Kelly, one of the comedians.
However, the success of the evening was not solely due to the comedians; the audience was also largely responsible. Every joke and punchline was given fresh life by their contagious laughter and energetic participation, which fostered a symbiotic interaction between them and the performers.
