In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Nkwe Estate invites Tshwane residents to join in large numbers on Saturday, 26th October, for the Nkwe Estate Breast Cancer Awareness Day. In collaboration with experienced medical practitioners, the event aims to educate the public about breast cancer.
Founder and organiser Molefi Mahome emphasised the importance of raising awareness about the disease.
“This event is crucial as it offers a relaxed environment where attendees can receive first-hand information from knowledgeable and experienced health practitioners. There will be a Q&A session to address concerns, questions, and misconceptions surrounding breast cancer,” he said.
Over the years, this initiative has seen significant growth, with increased involvement from cooperatives and more male participants. The addition of fun sports activities has brought excitement to the event, with attendees looking forward to engaging in some healthy exercises.
“Breast cancer, like any other disease, can place a heavy strain on mental health, and the role of exercise in promoting overall wellness cannot be overstated. Although we have limited other sporting activities this year due to financial constraints, we have organised a fun walk/run. Sports activities foster a sense of belonging and community, where friendships are built. It’s well-known that exercise promotes a healthy lifestyle, boosts self-confidence, and significantly helps manage stress and anxiety,” Mahome added.
The event will feature a 60-minute morning walk within Nkwe Estate, followed by in-depth discussions on breast cancer with medical practitioners. The theme colours for the day are pink and black, with the event beginning at 7:00 a.m.
